It can be a lot of fun to go skiing over spring break. So here are some suggestions on staying gluten free while you hit the slopes.

Gluten-Free Consumer Alert!  Nature’s Path continued it’s voluntary recall this week with several products, including the EnviroKidz Organic Crispy Rice Peanut Choco Drizzle Bars. This recall, as with the one last week, is connected to the peanut/peanut butter recalls happening nationwide as a result of salmonella contamination related to the Peanut Corporation of America. The Food and Drug Administration issued a news release on the recall today.  It includes products sold in the US and Canada.  If you have this product, you are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.  No known illnesses have happened as a result of this product. For more information including dates, UPC codes, visit the Food and Drug Administration.

Check out my review of Michello’s…

Those potatoes start out gluten-free. They even stay that way when they’re cut up into fries. But often at US restaurants they end up with gluten — usually from the oil. A lesson my exchange student learned — the hard way.

There are a lot of rumblings out there about at-home celiac tests. They’re already available in Canada and the US FDA could follow suit, someday. But are they worth it? Here’s what researchers have to say in a new study.
